Just recycle it.

REUSE - A - SHOE

My new running shoe of choice is the Nike Free Run 3.0.  I may be a little late on this bandwagon, because it takes time for me to find just the right shoe...  They are light, colorful, and extremely comfortable.  But, one of the many reasons that I am now such a huge Nike fan is the responsible environmental direction in which the company started to head in 1993 with their Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program.  As Nike's longest running program, it benefits both the environment and the community by collecting old athletic shoes of any type in order to process and recycle them. The material that is created from the recycled shoes is then used to help create sports surfaces, such as basketball courts, running tracks, and playgrounds.  They make it easy by having multiple drop-off locations.  Find one near you!

So after you run all those marathons, win all those basketball games, place in the track meet, or whatever it may be that keeps you active, drop off your athletic shoes at one of their locations, and give them a continued life they [and our planet] deserves.
