Enough, please?

For the past few days, I have been seeing numerous people partake in the #IceBucketChallenge, and every time I saw a new related posting, I cringed.  You know when we were kids, we heard the ubiquitous phrase "Think of all the starving children in...." when we didn't finish our food?  Ok, well, maybe MY parents didn't actually say that to me (I had a good appetite as a kid), but I heard it on tv all the time.  Now, I feel like it is my place to say "Think of all those without clean drinking water in..."  Outsiders may say Americans are spoiled, ignorant, etc.  It might be because we unnecessarily dump water on ourselves to raise money.  Albeit for a great cause, it is quite frivolous.  #bigsigh  I only cringe, because every day, we are wasting just the same amount of water (if not more), and NOT raising any money.  In the infographic below, it shows that if only 50% of the US uses paper napkins 3 times/day, that's the same as using 31.5M gallons of water per day!  So, when my husband ended up snagging his work shirts (on his rough elbows), they were no longer nice enough to donate, so I made some "everyday serviettes" out of them.  If one person can replace their daily napkin regime, that saves almost 5 gallons of water per day.  Plus, they are softer, can be thrown in the wash over and over, and make a dinner party stylish.  Newd Elements' "everyday serviettes" will be available online shortly.
